550h+ plug-in

Independent rear eAxle helps

TX550h+ combines its V6/e-CVT front hybrid drive with an independent rear eAxle. There is no inter-axle mechanical driveshaft. The plug-in has no Dynamic Rear Steering, and its charging hardware is separate from500h’s non-plug-in hybrid battery.

How this works

TX350: turbo four-cylinder, eight-speed automatic; AWD uses a mechanical shaft. TX500h: turbo hybrid, six-speed automatic, electric rear eAxle and Dynamic Rear Steering. TX550h+: V6 plug-in, e-CVT and electric rear eAxle; no rear steering.

Trail Mode is fitted on AWD builds. There is no low range or driver-selected axle locker. The550h+ has a charge port; the500h does not. Plug-in figures are manufacturer projections and charging depends on current, temperature and conditions.

Qualitative possible states; no traction, recovery, steering-angle, stopping-distance or efficiency prediction.

About these comparisons

Each illustration and link uses the build behind its number. Comparisons cover the model years and bodies in our guides. Different rows can use different trims and equipment. Missing values aren’t treated as zero; reported prices and inferred ratings aren’t ranked.

  • Lowest listed trim price in each guide, before destination, options, taxes and fees. Cab and body styles can differ.
  • Highest published output found in each guide. This compares available power, not acceleration or the trim you selected.
  • Best published combined rating found in each guide, including regular hybrids. Plug-in ratings and inferred matches are excluded.
