Both axles can push
Both axles can receive drive through a mechanical shaft. Rear engagement varies with conditions.
How this works
The transverse EcoBoost engine and eight-speed automatic drive the front wheels and can engage the mechanical rear connection. G.O.A.T. modes tune vehicle controls; they do not add a low-range gearbox.
Standard mechanical AWD on every trim. Advanced twin-clutch rear drive is standard on Badlands and included with Outer Banks Sasquatch. Both use a transverse engine, eight-speed automatic and mechanical driveshaft. This is a qualitative demonstration; no fixed torque split, brake timing, grip or stopping-distance prediction. No low-range gearbox or front axle locker. Only selected G.O.A.T. modes are demonstrated; Eco, Sport and Badlands Rally are described in the specifications.
Illustrative states, not a traction forecast. No low range, front locker or fixed torque split. Ford calls both systems 4x4.
