Both axles push

The gasoline engine and 48-volt starter-generator work through 9G-TRONIC and a multi-disc transfer clutch. Mercedes describes fully variable front/rear drive, with up to all engine torque available to either axle. The mild hybrid does not plug in and is not modeled as an EV-driving mode.

How this works

Illustrative wheel states and energy paths. No fixed torque split, recovery guarantee, range or efficiency prediction. The driver cannot command an axle split here.

EV driving is enabled only on the plug-in AMG 53. Battery charge and operating conditions can require the engine. No selectable axle locker, fixed split or low-range selection is demonstrated. Mild-hybrid assistance is not added arithmetically to rated engine horsepower.

About these comparisons

Each illustration and link uses the build behind its number. Comparisons cover the model years and bodies in our guides. Different rows can use different trims and equipment. Missing values aren’t treated as zero; reported prices and inferred ratings aren’t ranked.

  • Lowest listed trim price in each guide, before destination, options, taxes and fees. Cab and body styles can differ.
  • Highest published output found in each guide. This compares available power, not acceleration or the trim you selected.
