Both axles push
The engine sends power through a seven-speed automatic. A clutch connects rear drive when needed, so all four wheels can push. The rear wheels get power from the engine, without a separate electric motor.
How this works
Audi’s German technical sheets call this generation’s Q5 and SQ5 systems quattro ultra. We infer that the U.S. cars use the same arrangement. This drawing explains the power routes; it doesn’t predict exact power splits or how quickly the clutches respond.
The center block connects rear drive automatically. You don’t select a fixed power split or low range. Both U.S. engines run on gasoline; this guide excludes Europe’s mild-hybrid versions.
