DSG drives the front axle
All three US 2026 GTIs use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and VAQ front . There is no manual-transmission or build. VAQ can manage front-wheel coupling as conditions require; it cannot create tire grip.
How this works
All US 2026 GTIs are with standard VAQ and seven-speed DSG. Autobahn adds DCC adaptive ; S and SE have passive sport dampers. DCC Comfort/Sport here requests a qualitative damping illustration, not a ride-height change or measured response. VAQ is an electronically controlled multi-plate front clutch, distinct from brake intervention. Without VAQ is an explanatory comparison, not a switch offered in the car. Neither mechanism adds . Wheel states do not predict traction, stopping distance, a numerical split or actual vehicle speed. Both front tires can slip even with VAQ.
