Electric launch

When battery charge and conditions allow, the drive motor can pull the front wheels through the six-speed DCT with the engine disconnected. The car can start its engine automatically.

How this works

Hyundai’s current US 2026 specifications confirm the IVT, seven-speed N Line DCT and six-speed hybrid DCT. The hybrid uses real ratios; this is a simplified parallel power path, not Honda’s two-motor generator-first system.

Hybrid operation is illustrative. Hyundai’s hybrid FAQ describes engine-driven generation and regenerative charging. Engine-clutch and cruise states simplify automatic control; no speed threshold, energy split or regeneration limit is measured here.

Blue’s 54 mpg and the 17-inch hybrids’ 50 mpg are complete-trim EPA estimates, not an isolated wheel test. All hybrids have 139 system hp; N Line has 201 hp and is distinct from the separate Elantra N.

About these comparisons

Each illustration and link uses the build behind its number. Comparisons cover the model years and bodies in our guides. Different rows can use different trims and equipment. Missing values aren’t treated as zero; reported prices and inferred ratings aren’t ranked.

  • Highest published output found in each guide. This compares available power, not acceleration or the trim you selected.
