Both axles driven

Every Ascent sends engine power to both through a driveshaft. Subaru’s Active Torque Split system adjusts how much drive goes to the front and rear wheels. X-MODE changes engine response, and braking for slow driving on slippery ground.

How this works

The picture shows how power reaches the tires. It cannot predict grip or recovery. No or driver-selected are fitted.

All seven builds have mechanical AWD and the same turbo engine. Hill Descent Control uses braking; it is separate from engine drive to the wheels.
